Physical Treatments Offered

Dry Trigger Point Needling Treatment

Dry / Trigger Point Needling

CPDA – Dry Needling Foundation Diploma

Dry needling is a technique used to help reduce pain and movement impairments. It is an effective therapy to treat muscle spasm and myofascial trigger points, which commonly accompanies conditions such as arthritis, nerve irritation, herniated discs or bulges, muscle and ligament strains. It is a very safe and painless experience using a solid filament needle, which is inserted into the trigger point of the muscle. This creates a local twitch response and is the first step in breaking down the pain cycle.

Kinesiology - Rock Tape Treatment

Kinesiology – Rock Tape

Kinesiology Specialist using Rock Tape

This can be used to help compliment other treatments. It can treat many different types of injuries and/or postural issues and lymphedema problems. The way Rock tape is applied it helps to lift the skin away from the muscle and fascia, which decompresses the area and promotes blood flow. It helps strengthen and protect the muscle, whilst also reducing swelling. Despite its flexibility, as to allow full movement, it is very beneficial in stabilising muscles and correcting posture, resulting in an improved pain free performance. The tape can be worn in the shower and will remain effective for three to five days.

Electrotherapy Ultrasound Treatment

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy Diploma

Ultrasound – This can be used in conjunction with other treatment methods. It is very effective when used along side manual therapy. Ultrasound is used to heat soft tissue for minor injuries, which increases circulation and cell activity to help accelerate the healing process. It is a very comfortable and therapeutic procedure used within a treatment between 5 – 15 minutes depending what is necessary for the symptoms

Tens – This machine can be used to help reduce the pain of muscle spasm and strains. It increases blood flow, stimulates the body’s nerve endings by producing pain-killing endorphins, and reduce oedema. Tens machine can be recommended for the self – management of pain at home in some cases.

What do my clients say?

“After a shoulder injury 2 years ago I had been to other therapists and the treatment had been unsuccessful. I didn’t want to take pain relief for the rest of my life so I went to see Katie. Katie is professional, welcoming, understanding, engaging and has helped me to find a solution to my injury. I continue to see Katie on a regular basis as I find the treatment so relaxing and always makes me feel good and everyone deserves a bit of that don’t they.”

Ann Riches

“I have been visiting Katie for massages for several years now and nothing ever compares! A session with Katie every couple of weeks really improves my posture and eases any aches and pains from my desk job! Thank you so much!”
